How to feel comfortable in your own skin

How to feel comfortable in your own skin

Feeling comfortable in your own skin isn't something you achieve once and keep forever. It's a relationship that shifts over time, influenced by stress, confidence, seasons of life, and the stories we tell ourselves. It's also rarely about looking different. More often, it's about paying attention to yourself with a little more kindness and a little less comparison.

There isn't a single habit that creates confidence overnight, but small moments of self-awareness can add up. Here are five simple ways to reconnect with yourself.

1. Spend a few minutes noticing what's already true

It's easy to focus on everything you'd like to improve. Instead, try spending a few minutes each day reminding yourself what you already appreciate about who you are. Maybe it's your sense of humor, your creativity, your resilience, or the way you show up for the people you love.

Confidence grows when you spend as much time noticing your strengths as you do your perceived flaws.

2. Give your mind somewhere to land

Stress has a way of making us feel disconnected from ourselves. If you notice certain parts of your day consistently leave you feeling overwhelmed, build in a small ritual that helps you reset. It could be stretching for a few minutes, taking a walk, listening to music, or simply sitting quietly before moving on to the next thing.

The goal isn't to eliminate stress—it's to give yourself moments where your nervous system can catch up.

3. Curate what you're consuming

The people you follow online quietly shape the way you think about yourself. If your feed consistently leaves you feeling like you're falling behind or not measuring up, it may be time for a reset.

Fill your feed with people who inspire you to live your own life—not someone else's.

4. Spend more time doing what makes you feel like yourself

Confidence doesn't only come from self-reflection. It also comes from living.

Whether that's cooking, dancing, writing, painting, hiking, or spending time with friends, the activities that make you lose track of time often reconnect you with who you are. The more often you make space for those moments, the less energy you'll spend worrying about how you look.

5. Spend time naked

It sounds simple, but many of us spend surprisingly little time actually seeing ourselves. We rush from the shower to getting dressed, or glance in the mirror only to critique what we'd like to change.

Try slowing down instead. Spend a few extra moments getting ready without immediately covering up. Look at yourself with curiosity instead of criticism. The more familiar you become with your body, the less power insecurity tends to have over it.

I like many women struggle with this. 2 min to thank your body for what it does for you is so important 🥺
